Who Artist Philip Hedegaard

Philip approached me mid-2020 with a wish to create a logo for his artist practice. Combining classic techniques and antique shapes, with norm breaking graffiti and statures of the 21st century, Philip creates something brand new, yet very familiar.  The logo for Philip had to do the same. Standing on the shoulders of the masters of arts and crafts, while borrowing details from graffiti, it combines Philips creative background with his artistic practice.

Rooted in graffiti culture and craft traditions

The special ‘LI’ ligature is borrowed directly from graffiti, and combined with the shape, the logotype is bridging those roots.
Symbolism

The soft, burning sun is Philip’s symbol. The sun, because it is a story of rebirth. The sun, because it is fire. Fire that is used in the burning of clay into ceramics. In soft shapes, because the organic is at the core. The colours also carry symbolism. Orange, like the fire that burns. Beige, like the clay. Light blue, like the hard-fired ceramic, and dark brown, like the earth from which the clay is sourced.
